Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group access places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Strategists groups.
